Building Nests

I sat and watched a bird
Build a nest out of nothing
It sang songs I never heard
It really taught me something
No idea is too absurd
I can tell you one thing
You could never tell a bird
It can't make something out of nothing
I sit and watch the world
Move faster everyday
Sometimes the moments just unfurl
In unnatural scary ways
I know I'm just a girl
Confined to my own space
But I'm still a part of this world
Maybe I can make a change
Hopelessness is synonymous
With accepting what's in front of you as fate
My restlessness for any sign of progress
Can sometimes turn me into what I hate
I sat and watched a bird
Struggle to fly against the wind
When it's persistence emerged
I saw what I had missed
I should never be concerned
For the challenge in the end
For you can never tell a bird
That it can't fly against the wind
